They wait for the cure they were promised as the Tox seeps into everything.
But when Byatt goes missing, Hetty will do anything to find her, even if it means breaking quarantine and braving the horrors that lie beyond the fence. And when she does, Hetty learns that there’s more to their story, to their life at Raxter, than she could have ever thought true.

Lady Victoria Aston has always been just as comfortable in a pair of breeches stolen from her father as she has in satin ballgowns decked in lace. And though she is perfectly capable of minding her manners in polite society, she doesn’t much see the point. With an older sister happily wed and the future of her family estate secure, she is quite content to while her time away in the fields around her home.
However, Vicky’s comfortable, idyllic life is overturned in the course of one night. Her sister’s husband is a terrible cad and now Vicky must marry, or find herself and her family destitute. Armed only with the wisdom she has gained from her beloved novels by Jane Austen, she enters society’s season in a flutter of silks, dances, and pretty words.
But Miss Austen has little to say about Vicky’s particular circumstances: whether the gorgeous and roguish Mr. Carmichael is indeed a scoundrel, if her former best friend—the much-grown and very handsome Tom Sherborne—is out for her dowry or for her heart, or even how to fend off the attentions of the foppish Mr. Silby, he of the bright-orange waistcoat.
Most unfortunately of all, Vicky’s books are silent on the topic of the mysterious accidents cropping up around her. Accidents that have her wondering if there’s someone trying to prevent a match from being made…or prevent her from surviving until her wedding day.

A few big-name releases are absent from this list: Darkdawn and The Queen of Nothing.
DD didn’t make the list because I haven’t read the Nevernight series, so I’m not really anticipating the third and final book (although this is a series I definitely want to read soon). The Queen of Nothing also didn’t make the list because (*braces self*) I’m pretty apathetic about The Cruel Prince and still haven’t read the sequel (I know, don’t @ me).
But of those that are on the list, Tunnel of Bones, Into The Crooked Place, Frankly in Love, and The Lady Rogue are at the top.
What are your most anticipated releases for the rest of 2019? Are there any books you think I should definitely be adding to this list?
Oooh, Dangerous Alliance sounds interesting! I don’t know how it’s not managed to slip onto my radar because it’s definitely something I’d read. I’m looking forward to Tunnel of Bones as well, next to The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E.Harrow and The Book of Dust: The Secret Commonwealth by Philip Pullman.
Great list! I’ve read a few of those already and a lot more are on my TBR.
omg SO MANY of these are on my TBR! I keep hearing great things about Crier’s War and am super excited to read my ARC of it!! I also managed to snag a copy of A Match Made in Mehendi at Book Expo and it just sounds adorable. I also looked up Frankly in Love again a few days ago to remind myself why it was on my TBR and omg, how could it not be? It sounds fantastic.
I hope you love all of these books!
Guinevere Deception, War Girls, Serpent & Dove are all on my list too!
I’m so excited for so many of these! Ninth House, Serpent & Dove, The Lady Rogue and Wayward Son are all ones I can’t wait to pick up, and I need to get to Jade City and The Poppy War asap. 🙂
if i listed all of the ones i agreed with we’d behere all day, so YAY GREAT POST!
A Schwab book? on one of Kate’s lists? // shock // 😆
Ninth House would be on my list too!
Tunnel of Bones and Ninth House are definitely ones on my list! I’m hoping after I finally read Tunnel of Bones I will read more of VE Schwab’s books though I am tempted to reread City of Ghosts before reading Tunnel of Bones!
Me and you have pretty much the same reading tastes. Reading through these – the ones I didn’t already have on my TBR are now on there! 😅😂
So many amazing books on this list and I have no idea where to start with all the epicness. Into the Crooked Kingdom is hands down one of my most anticipated of the year. I’m curious about The Lady Rouge cause Jenn Bennett’s contemporaries are amazing so I want to see how this one reads.
OOH Frankly in Love sounds AMAZING- I hadn’t heard of it but I’ll definitely be seeking that out at some point! I love fake dating as a trope, and it just sounds fab. I’m looking forward to Tunnel of Bones too; I really enjoyed City of Ghosts 😊
Amy x
Yesss, it sounds so good doesn’t it! I was lucky enough to get an arc so I’m hoping to pick that up asap! Fake dating is a really fun trope when done well 😁
