Top Ten Tuesday // YA characters I want to befriend

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This week’s theme is:

August 13: Book Characters I’d Love to Be Besties With

Honestly, there are so many characters I want to be friends with that this was tricky to narrow down. But I’ve chosen 10 characters that I know I’d enjoy hanging out with.

Also, before there’s shock and outrage that ADSOM and Vicious aren’t on this list, don’t worry. Kell, Lila, Rhy, and Alucard and still my fave squad and Victor is still my favourite sociopath, but (to me) they’re adult fantasy and I stuck to YA books for this week’s theme.

Antonio from The Black Veins

Antonio is my soft, sweet angel and I would protect him with my life. He’s so enthusiastic about everything and has a natural zest for life so we’d just be constantly yelling at each other in excitement (I’m also very enthusiastic).

My so called

Winnie Mehta from My So-Called Bollywood Life

Winnie seems like a really fun person to be around. She’s kind, thoughtful, and creative, and I feel like she’d give me the best Bollywood movie recs out there.

THT

Tash from Tash Hearts Tolstoy

I love Tash’s driven spirit and the way she stands up for what she believes in. I feel like we’d have a lot in common, as we’re both exploring being ace-spec and both love YouTube, so we’d probably just spend all day chatting and watching YT videos.

Ace of Shades

Levi Glaisyer from Ace of Shades

Levi was an instant hit with me when I read Ace of Shades. I found Enne a touch boring, but Levi was funny, sassy, and charming all at the same time.

I liked his smart tricks, but also his genuine, caring side, and the fact that he had vulnerabilities, so I feel like we’d be able to have a good heart to heart, hopefully not while running through the streets evading villains.

ThisSavagesong

Kate Harker from This Savage Song

Would it really be one of my TTT lists if I didn’t include Schwab characters? No, it would not.

And Kate is one of my all-time favourites. She’s no-nonsense, she’s tough, she could take you down in a heart-beat, and yet she finds herself suddenly starting to care about August.

I love her character development and growing desire to save the city she’s forsaken. She’s also my namesake, but I’m nowhere near as badass as her. If I could kick ass even 1/10 as well as she can, I’d count myself lucky. Maybe she could teach me if we were friends.

candleflame

Zulfikar from The Candle and the Flame

I just read this a few weeks ago and I was totally taken in by Zulfikar. He has no idea what to do with his feelings, which I found kind of adorable, and will protect the city of Noor with his life. Give me that selfless energy any day.

Jihoon from Wicked Fox

I would 100% lay down my life and soul for my son Jihoon. He’s caring and selfless, while also managing to be witty and charismatic, and I just want him to be happy.

Oh and I want to be best friends with him and Miyoung because I feel like we’d have a riot. And hopefully I could help them stop getting themselves into mortal danger.

Dimple

Dimple from When Dimple Met Rishi

I love Dimple’s fiery, feminist attitude and I feel like together we could steamroller the patriarchy.

I have no idea how to code, so she’d probably have to help me out, but we could get coffee and study together.

six of crows

The dregs from Six of Crows

I’m greedy, OK. I couldn’t possibly pick one (or even two) of my favourite gang, so I had to pick all six of them. They’re smart, creative, and always know what to do in a tight spot.

Basically, I just want to be in the squad.

Invictus

Imogen from Invictus

I feel like Imogen is pretty close to me, personality-wise. We both love animals, ice cream, and bright colours, and she always wants to make people feel better if they’re having a rough time.

I could definitely see us visiting new cities together and going shopping. And maybe accidentally adopting some red pandas while we’re there.

Which characters would you want to be friends with? Are there any characters you feel like you really wouldn’t get on with?

Until next time,KateNEW
