The Bank Holiday Book Tag

It’s a bank holiday here in the UK which means an extra day off work and more reading. I saw this tag over on Kelly’s Rambles, and it sounded like a lot of fun so I decided to give it a go. All credit to Kelly for this gorgeous, colourful header.

Have A Lie In ~ Which book could you lounge in bed with all morning?

Love Hate and Other Filters

This book had riveting discussions of racial discrimination and a romance that I could get invested in. I could definitely read it all morning in bed.

It’s Sunny Outside! ~ A book that makes you feel optimistic.

Moxie

The ending of this book made me feel so optimistic for the future of feminism and equality for all genders. We have to keep pushing forward, but hopefully, step-by-step, we can get there.

Spend Some Time Outdoors ~ A book that reminds you of nature.

Enchantment of Ravens

A lot of this book was set in the forests of the Autumn Court so it reminds me of being outside and walking through the woods.

Make Some Punch ~ A book that you find difficult to classify into one genre.

I absolutely adore this book but it’s quite a difficult one to pin down in terms of genre. It’s definitely fantasy, but you could also argue for dystopian, and I’ve seen it categories as YA, but it doesn’t feel like YA to me. What is it???

Pass Some Food Around ~ A book that you want to share with everyone.

THUG

Hello, hi, howdy, let me introduce you to once of the most powerful and groundbreaking books I’ve ever read. THUG is so phenomenal that it’s now my go-to recommendation for anyone just wanting to pick up a new book. I’ve got my mum reading it at the moment, because I told her she’d be stunned by the end of it.

Light the BBQ ~ A book that took a while to get going.

DNSWHN

This was a bit of a slow starter because there were so many characters to get to know initially, but my goodness was it worth it in the end. The writing was lyrical and spiritual and the plot was devastating in the best way.

Failed BBQ ~ A book that ultimately disappointed you.

Beast's heart

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this from YALC, but it ended up being a real let down. The narrative and plot were too slow and the characters were all mundane. There was also an element of toxic masculinity that I didn’t enjoy at all. Sadly, this was not for me.

It’s raining, of course! ~ A book to cuddle up with when it’s raining outside.

Dimple

When Dimple Met Rishi was a really cute read, with some heart-eyes-inducing romance. Perfect for cuddling to your chest on a rainy day.

Let’s Just Eat Chocolate ~ A book that’s super sweet.

simon

I just finished this book yesterday and it was super cute and I want to hug Simon and protect him FOREVER.

I’m not going to tag anyone, since I don’t want to pressure anyone into feeling like they have to do this before the bank holiday is over, but if you’d like to do it feel free. And please tag me in your post so I can come read it!

What are you reading over the bank holiday? Would you agree with any of my choices for these topics?

Until next time
