TBRs and Wrap ups

May TBR (Predictions of Sunshine, Smoothies and Strange Weather In Tokyo)

May TBR

Hey guys,

Strange Weather in Tokyo

First off, I should probably explain that, no, Strange Weather In Tokyo is not my prediction for the weather in Japan, but actually the name of a book I want to read this month.

I first saw this book in Daunt Books (in London), and it’s been in my mind ever since. Written by Hiromi Kawakami, the book follows a twenty-something girl, Tsukiko, who forms an unexpected friendship with an old high school teacher.

It’s on my TBR for this month, along with these other books:

Which books are you excited to read this month? Have you read any on this list already? If so what did you think? Let me know in comments!

Until next time, Kate

  1. I honestly thought you were taking a trip to Tokyo when I read the headline haha! Sounds like an interesting book 🙂 I loooved A Conjuring of Light! When Dimple Met Rishi and ACOWAR are two books on my May tbr as well. I’m currently reading Royal Bastards and rereading HP7- enjoying both!

    1. Haha, sorry if it was slightly misleading! I just love the book title and wanted to include it somehow in my blog title, but realised it might sound odd, so made sure to explain it in the opening paragraph. I’ve been trying to get to ACOL since February (!), but hopefully this month will be the one! I’m about two thirds of the way through WDMR and it’s SO good. Hope you enjoy it (and ACOWAR)! Aww HP7 is such a brilliant book! Have a great May 🙂

  2. I’ll be reading When Dimple Met Rishi this month too. I hope it lives up to the hype! THUG definitely did; it’s really powerful. Also I am shocked that you haven’t read ACOL yet. Although it is a bazillion pages long which makes it slightly more understandable.

    1. Ooh exciting! It’s definitely living up to expectations so far. Yes, THUG is such a striking novel, I’m not even finished yet and already I want everyone I know to read it. Ahahaha I’m shocked too tbh. I’ve mostly been putting it off because I know that once I finish, that’s it, the series is over (and I never want it to be over), but I definitely think it’s time to pick it up in May.

  3. I can’t wait for When Dimple Met Rishi. I’m so tempted to preorder it and I honestly don’t know if I have enough self-control to resist this temptation. I hope you get a chance to pick up A Conjuring of Light. I know you’ve been meaning to get to that one. Happy May!

    1. It’s SO good. The main characters are absolutely adorable and the I love how much of a feminist Dimple is. It’s a very warm, cosy read, so definitely ideal if you’ve just read something emotionally harrowing and want a book-shaped hug. I really hope so to, I’m determined to get to it this month! Happy May to you too Alicia!
