The End of Summer book tag

Technically this tag is called the End of Year book tag, and was originally created by Ariel Bissett over on her YouTube channel.

But I thought it might be a little confusing to see an end of year tag in September, so I’m titling my post the End of Summer book tag, since that’s the time of year we’re in and I’m desperately clinging to the last vestiges of my favourite season.

I was tagged to do this by Emma over at Turn Another Page, so make sure to go and check out her post too.

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

Book cover for The

YES, I desperately need to finish The Jasmine Throne before the end of the year.

I started this back in June and was really enjoying it, but for some reason I it down to pick up other books and haven’t gone back to it yet.

I keep deliberating over whether to buy the audiobook and finish it in that medium, or whether to carry on with the hardback, but either way I NEED to finish this before 2021 is over.

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

I don’t have a particularly autumnal book planned for this month; however, I want to read So Many Beginnings and The Inheritance of Orquídea Divina soon and both of those books give me autumnal vibes. It’s just something about the covers?

Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

I’m waiting eagerly for all three of these. Thankfully, Iron Widow releases tomorrow and Light from Uncommon Stars releases in on 28th September, so the wait for those two is almost over. Our Violent Ends isn’t out until November, but I was lucky enough to get approved for an e-ARC on Netgalley, so I’m hoping to read it before then.

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

I’ve been really keen to read Ace of Spades and Black Water Sister since they were two of my most anticipated releases for 2021. Jade City has been on my TBR for over a year now and, with the final book in the trilogy releasing in December, I want to try and read it before then.

Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favourite book of the year?

Honestly, any of the six listed above could do it. The most likely are probably Jade City and Iron Widow, but if I get to these four titles then it could be any of them too.

Have you already started making reading plans for 2022?

My only plans for 2022 are to inhale Gallant and Daughter of the Moon Goddess as soon as they release. I need them more than oxygen.

There are also a few series I’d like to finish next year if I don’t get to them by the end of this year, namely City of Brass, The Poppy War, and An Ember in the Ashes. I’d also like to get back to the webcomics I’ve been reading but have neglected recently, such as Midnight Poppyland and UnOrdinary.

I’m tagging Charvi at NotJustFiction, Lay at BookshelfSoliloquies, Fanna at FannaforBooks, and Emily at AShortBookLover.

And you, if you want to!

Which books are you hoping to read before the end of the year? Have you read any of the books I mentioned or are you planning to?

  1. Considering that I haven’t read a single book from any of my TBR lists for the year…I need to read all of them before the year ends! 😂 Thanks so much for tagging me in this, can’t wait to do the tag myself and expose myself haha
