Top Ten Tuesday // Books that will make you smile

Friends, it’s been a little while since I posted a TTT post (or any post at all for that matter), but today I’m back to shout about some books that really made me smile.

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

September 7: Books Guaranteed to Put a Smile On Your Face

If you want to be smiling softly or full-on grinning when you’re reading a novel, I can recommend all 10 of these books for some happy times.

These books all made me smile for very different reasons. Wicked As You Wish for the squad team up and the chapter titles, Be Dazzled for the ‘finding your people’ moments and convention goodness, and Rumaysa for the sweetness of a story about friendship.

Pumpkin made me grin like an idiot (and almost cry??) with its unashamed queerness and A Cuban Girl’s Guide made me smile at its soft romance.

You Should See Me in a Crown was such a lovely uplifting story that I couldn’t help but smile when Liz got her happy ending and all the family elements in You Had me at Hola made do a smol smile.

Cemetery Boys and Boyfriend Material not only made me grin in happiness, but they made me laugh out loud, which is rarer and therefore always a memorable moment. I’ll Be the One is the only book on this list that I haven’t read yet (a plague upon my house, I know), but I just KNOW it’s going to make me smile. Look at that cover? It’s so full of joy, how could it not make anyone smile.

Which books make you smile? Have you read any of the books on this list?

  1. You Had Me at Hola is definitely on my list, it sounds like such a fun read. I’m glad to hear there’s a sequel out too, it’s been a while since I read a contemporary series. Lovely recommendations!
