It’s July and it’s SUMMER. ☀️ Summer is my favourite season, so I’m drinking iced coffees, enjoying the sun (when it deigns to show its face) and t h r i v i n g.
(Well, aside from the weight of existential dread and growing pandemic concerns because the government has decided to ignore the exponential rise in cases in the UK but YOU KNOW 👌 )
I have a feeling that this month is going to be a good reading month (mainly because I’ve already read four books), so I’ve lined up a pretty ambitious TBR to try and get through.
This is a carry over from June that I didn’t quite finish last month. I’m buddy reading it Helen and we’re about halfway through it now, so we should definitely finish it in the next week or so.
The Jasmine Throne
This is another carry over from June that I STILL HAVEN’T FINISHED.
And honestly, I don’t know why.
I’ve been enjoying it a lot but it’s quite a big book (533 pages) and I’m also reading another paperback (see above) so it’s taking me a while to get through this. But I’m hopeful that I can finish it by the end of July.
She Who Became the Sun
Do me eyes deceive me??? Or is this YET ANOTHER carry over from last month that I didn’t get to. (What was I even doing in June?)
She Who Became the Sun releases on 20th July in the UK, so I’m hoping to pick up my ARC before then, especially because it’s one of my most anticipated releases of 2021, and I’ve seen so many good reviews for it already.
I’ve got really into non fiction over the last few months and as July is Disability Pride month, I want to listen to the audiobook of Rebekah Taussig’s memoir, Sitting Pretty.
I feel like I’ve definitely not read enough books about disability or books with disability rep, so if anyone has any recommendations, hit me up. (I have Disability Visibility lined up to read in the coming months.)
How She Likes It
I saw this was on Scribd the other day and I was in the mood for CEO romance, so I decided to pick it up this month.
I also have the ebook of If the Dress Fits by Carla de Guzman to read, but I think I’ll end up reading this one first because I’m rattling through audiobooks at the moment.
The Wolf at Bay
I read the first book in this series (The Wolf at the Door) last month after I saw Chai recommend the series on Twitter. And folks, I’m ADDICTED.
I’m not normally into werewolf or vampire stories at all, but this is an m/m romance between two detectives, which gives me serious Criminal Intentions vibes (one of my favourite series), so I decided to try this series and it’s really good.
The audiobooks are available on Scribd too, which means they’re there and waiting for me whenever I want to pick them up.
I read the first book in this series earlier this year and thoroughly enjoyed it, so I’m looking forward to picking up the second book this month, ahead of its release on 13th July.
Rosaline Palmer takes the Cake
I was lucky enough to be approved for an ARC of this on Netgalley and I’m hoping to read it this month before it releases in August (in the UK; it’s already out in the US).
I loved Boyfriend Material, so I have high hopes for this too. (Mainly hoping it’ll make me SNORT out loud like BM did.)
After the Dragons
This is a debut novel releasing in August and it sounds SO GOOD. It’s a queer romance between a college student and a researcher who form an unlikely partnership searching for dragons and the cure to a disease.
How We Fight For our Lives
And finally, if Scribd doesn’t kick me out and ban me from listening to audiobooks (because I’ve already listened to three this month), I’m hoping to read Saeed Jones’s memoir, How We Fight for Our Lives.
What’s on your July TBR? Have you read, or are you planning to read any of these books?
