It’s June, which means it’s finally pride month!
This month, as with every June, I’m trying to read exclusively queer books (if possible), so my TBR is filled with LGBTQIAP+ goodness.
It was also my birthday on 9th and I spent a lovely day in Liverpool, having lunch with my folks, walking through the docks, and I maaaay have bought a couple of books. (It was a birthday treat, OK?)
I was also lucky enough to be gifted some wonderful books from friends, so if I finish the books on my current TBR, I’ll be picking up a few of those too.
The Jasmine Throne
I’m so hyped for this because I really enjoyed Tasha Suri’s debut novel and I’m excited to read a sapphic fantasy from her.
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this from Orbit, so I’m currently reading it and folks, it’s GREAT.
May the Best Man Win
I’ve been wanting to pick this up since I first heard about it because it’s a YA contemporary with rivals-to-lovers competing for the chance to become prom king, a second chance romance, and a trans MC.
I noticed that this is up on Scribd to I’m hoping to get to it this month.
Monstrous Design
This is the sequel to Dangerous Remedy, which I read last month, and the lovely folks at Midas were kind enough to send me a copy of Monstrous Design for review.
It released on 10th June in the UK and I’ll be buddy reading it with Helen later this month.
Black Water Sister
Anyone remember last year when I was yelling from the hills with a megaphone about how much I loved The Order of the Pure Moon Reflected in Water?
Well, if you do (or even if you don’t) you’ll know how JAZZED I am for Zen Cho’s next release, Black Water Sister, which released on 10th June in the UK.
She Who Became the Sun
This book. THIS BOOK. It sounds SO fantastic and I’m incredibly excited and lucky to have an been sent an ARC that I’m hoping to read this month. I’m not 100% sure I’ll get to it in June because I need to read Black Water Sister and Monstrous Design first, but I’m going to try my my best.
It’s one of my most anticipated releases for the year so I have very high hopes, and judging by all the rave reviews I’ve seen so far, they’re going to be met and surpassed.
The Passing Playbook
This own voices trans novel is about a teen who joins the soccer team at his new school, but has to decide whether to come out when a discriminatory law change forces his coach to put him on the bench.
I love sports romance books but I haven’t picked one up in ages, so I’m looking forward to reading this.
Love After Love
Set between Trinidad and the US, this is a story of an unconventional family and their love and devotion to one another.
My mum asked for this for her birthday last month and I bought it for her as a gift. We then decided that we’d buddy read it together (our first ever buddy read) so we could discuss it. She’s reading the paperback and I’m reading the audiobook at the moment and i’s a really interesting story.
The Queer Principles of it Webb
This is a historical romance between a lord, Percy, who needs a book stolen and an ex highway man, Kit, who runs a coffee shop. Kit wants no part in any more thievery, but agrees to teach Percy how best to get the book.
I’ve just start this on audio and it’s SO fun. Mutual wariness, casual flirting, I’m here for it all.
