Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This week’s theme is:
June 8: Books I Loved that Made Me Want More Books Like Them
As it’s a glorious, sunny pride month, I wanted to share ten queer contemporaries that swept me away and made me want to read more queer contemporaries with similar vibes. Let’s take a trip down memory lane.
I read One Last Stop and Pumpkin pretty recently and I got completely swept up in both their worlds. Everything felt hopeful and exciting and I loved how uplifted I felt reading these stories. (I know that OLS sits the boundary between contemporary and speculative with sci-fi hints, but I’m including it in this post as a contemporary.)
Similarly, I read You Should See Me in a Crown, Tell me How You Really Feel, and The Henna Wars last year they were so fun and sweet. More queer books with happy endings please.
Everything Leads to You and Tash Hearts Tolstoy gave me that summer glow feeling, where everything is glazed in sunshine and feels so joyous. Be Dazzled, Simon VS, and Boyfriend Material made me laugh and had me eager to pick them up again as soon as I had any free time.
I’m forever going to be chasing the kind of high I got from reading these books.
Which books gave you blissful, happy vibes and made you want to read more just like them? Have you read any of these books?

Great list! I love the sound of Tell Me How You Really Feel, and I keep meaning to give Tash Hearts Tolstoy a go.
Aw, this is a great list! I’ve loved the ones of these I’ve read, which tells me I most definitely need to read the others!
Love the list and the links!
Great list, Kate!
Great list! I really want to read Boyfriend Material, as I heard it has some good banter and I love books that make me laugh 🥰
