Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

January 19: Books I Meant to Read In 2020 but Didn’t Get To
Honestly, this post could be about 30 books long. There are that many books that I wanted to read in 2020 and didn’t get to.
But in the interest of sticking to my ‘top ten’ for Tuesday, I’ve picked ten that I really wish I’d got to last year and that I’m going to do my best to pick up this year.
Look at all these beauties. All fantasy. All exciting. All unread by me in 2020. The shame.
I have physical copies of Jade City, Cinderella is Dead, Girl, Serpent, Thorn and Dangerous Remedy and because they’re sitting there, eyeballing me from my shelves, I’m determined to try and pick them up this year.
The Gilded Ones doesn’t actually release in the UK until February 2021, but I’ve had an e-ARC from Netgalley that I wanted to get to in autumn and…didn’t. So I’m 100% going to try and read it this month or next.
Expectation: I’ve preordered the audiobook of The Silvered Serpents, so I’ll start it the week it releases
Reality: I still haven’t read it.
The same can be said for Felix and I Wish You All the Best. I was gifted both of these for my birthday and I thought I’d start them immediately after and read them over summer. But somehow. SOMEHOW. I didn’t manage to get to them at all in 2020. Shaking my head at myself.
I also thought I would read Legendborn and Something To Talk About very soon after their releases, but it was another case of ‘too many books, too little time’.
Which books did you plan to read in 2020 and then didn’t get to? Do you find yourself reading a book when you planned to, or do you sometimes not get to it until months after?

Aww why did they make you nervous? I’m worried that someone will die in The Silvered Serpents but I really hope not :O

Dangerous Remedy and The Silvered Serpents were also on my list this week. I read Cinderella Is Dead and Girl, Serpent, Thorn last year and enjoyed both of them.
I’m really glad you enjoyed both Cinderella is Dead and Girl, Serpent, Thorn! I love queer fantasies, so I feel like I’m going to love them whenever I finally get to them 😀 Dangerous Remedy and Silvered Serpents are both on Scribd, so I’m hoping to read the audiobooks at some point!

You know I’m going to keep screaming at you to read Jade City until you do haha. I have so many books that I meant to read, but didn’t, and I think the top of that list was The Poppy War. I’m making it a mission to read it this year!

Last year I bought loads of books and still haven’t read a lot of them. This year I’m not letting myself buy any more books until I read all my unread ones!
I feel you, there are so many books I wanted to get to in 2020 😅 I really need to read Legendborn and I have been meaning to read I Wish You All the Best for so long now 😱 I can highly recommend The Silvered Serpents and Felix Ever After though 🥰
