Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This week’s theme is:
April 28: Books I Wish I Had Read As a Child
For this week’s theme, I decided to go with books I’d read while I was a teenager, because there are quite a few adult and YA books that I wish I’d read sooner, but still need to get to. And there are others that I just wish I’d read sooner.
These are just a few of the more modern classics that I still need to read but wish I’d picked up when I was in high school. Now they’re just falling further down my TBR.
I know these three books weren’t published when I was 15 or 16, but I wish I’d read them then, as I might have started thinking about and exploring my sexuality sooner. But, as it is, I read all three in the last few years and absolutely loved them.
These are another three classic tales that I wish I’d read while I was a teenager, as I think they would have been interesting to dissect at university (more interesting than Middlemarch, anyway).
Which books do you wish your read as a teen? Have you picked up any of these?
A lot of great choices. I got to read To Kill A Mockingbird as a teen. I do wish I would have read books with diversity like the ones you chose.
I wish I had read I Capture the Castle sooner as well!! I read it and college and I know I would have loved it even more had I read it in high school. Great list!
Great list! I really enjoyed 1984 and To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Three Musketeers and I Capture the Castle are two I’d like to try. 🙂
Awesome choices in the classics. 🙂
Ugh RWaRB yes!
I read To Kill a Mockingbird and 1984 when I was a teenager and I’m glad that I did because they’re two of my all-time favourites. And I wish there were more queer YA books when I was a teenager because they would’ve helped me to explore my sexuality too.
I really enjoyed 1984, I hope you get to it one day 😊 Love to see Proud in this post!
Lovely post! I still need to read 1984 as well, and many other classics, haha. Red, White and Royal Blue is such a great book ❤
