Top Ten Tuesday // Book titles that would make the best band names

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This week’s theme is:

April 21: Titles That Would Make Good Band Names

I had fun with this prompt because there are quite a few book titles that, if made into a band name, would make me want to listen to the band’s music.

Here are my top ten.

I love the idea of these three titles as band names. They’d definitely be rock bands or indie rock, and the band mates of This Is How You Lose The Time War would all dress in space-age, sci-fi-esque outfits. I feel like Mad, Bad, and Dangerous to Know would be an all-WOC rock band and The Surprising Power Of a Good Dumpling would have amazing set designs in pastel colours.

In case you can’t tell, I love strange and wonderful band names. And Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts would be just that. They’d give me Florence and the Machine vibes and their stage sets would be all stars and night skies. A Beginner’s Guide to Free Fall would have a Fall Out Boy-type sound and TLROOC would have a really electro-synth sound, reminiscent of 80s music in the UK.

OK so The Quiet at the End of the World has to be a death metal band. It has to be. Just for the irony.  I also feel like A Song of Wraiths and Ruin is an ideal band name since it literally has ‘song’ in the title. I imagine the band as six women of colour, dressed in wraith costumes with bold makeup. They’d sing power pop and we’d all bow before their amazing voices.

The City in the Middle of the Night gives me Years and Years vibes, but I think their aesthetics would be more urban (for obvious reasons). And This Won’t End Well would be one woman and a ukelele singing doomsday type songs with a jolly voice. Naturally.

Which books do you think would make great band titles? Can you imagine any of the bands I was going for here?

Until next time,KateNEW

  1. I love these titles. I could see a lot them being abbreviated along the way haha. The City in the Middle of the Night definitely give off a Years and Years vibe.
