Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday // Out-of-season(al) reads

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This week’s theme is:

December 3: Holiday Reads (Books you love reading during the holiday season.)

I’m not much of a seasonal reader, so I don’t tend to read Christmas-y books over the holidays. This is usually because there are so many other books I’m keen to read that aren’t holiday-themed and if I’m honest, I’m not always a huge fan of Christmas-themed books.

So for this Top Ten Tuesday’s theme, I thought I’d look at some out-of-season reads, that are pretty much the opposite of cosy and Christmas-y, but somehow I’m more likely to read them.

None of these strike me as particularly Christmas-related, and yet there’s a good chance I’ll read two out of the three over the holidays.

Like wise, these three don’t feel like seasonal reads because they’re so dark and fantastical. But I’ll be reading Ninth House next month if all goes according to plan.

And none of these feel like Christmas books to me because they give off real summer vibes.

But even if none of these feel like Christmas reads, I’m a firm believer that you can read any book at any time of year!

What books are you planning to read over Christmas? (Or not read?)

Until next time,KateNEW

  1. I tend to go by atmospher more than seasons. I love the cold nights and cosy fire vibes I get during Winter and this is why I often gravitate towards fantasy books this time of year because they’re so atmospheric. I really need to catch up with the Nevernight series.

  2. I actually think that fluffy contemporaries can be great to read over the holidays, as they can get you so cozy and you can fly through them 🥰 I really hope to read Red, White, and Royal Blue next year, as I’ve been hearing so many great things about it 🙂
