Top Ten Tuesday // Books I’m procrastinating on reading

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This week’s theme is:

September 10: Books On My TBR I’m Avoiding Reading and Why

I didn’t post a TTT last week because I had a blog tour post going up and I didn’t have time to write both posts. So it feels good to be back this week talking about books I’m procrastinating on reading. If I’m doing this, it’s usually for one of four reasons:

  1. I want to read it but can’t seem to find or make the time.
  2. I’m worried it won’t live up to the hype.
  3. The hype has died down and I still want to read it but I’m not desperate.
  4. I’ve heard some problematic or bad things about the book and I’m putting it off while I make my mind up about whether or not I actually read it.

The books in today’s list are a mixture of all four.

RWRB

Red, White & Royal Blue

I’m really keen to read this one, especially with all the rave reviews I’ve seen, and I’ve even got a copy on loan from my library, but I’ve just not had a chance to get to it yet.

I’m not really putting it off, I just haven’t been able to find the time to pick it up among the other ARCs I’m trying to read.

I Wish You All The Best

The only reason I’m procrastinating on this one is because I don’t own a copy of the book. I meant to buy the book when it came out, but I waited to see if the price would go down, and I still haven’t clicked that order button yet.

WS

Wicked Saints

I’m actually procrastinating on this one because, while I was initially excited for its release, I’ve heard some not-so-good things about it since then, and I’m not sure if I want to read it any more. The jury is still out on that one.

circe

Circe

Every time I think about reading Circe, another book jumps to the top of my TBR and gets in the way. Usually an ARC that I’m trying to read before release. Help.

City of Brass

The City of Brass

If I’m honest, I’ve been putting off reading this one because she’s a bit of a chunk. And I know that I’ll read this and then immediately want to go straight into the sequel, which makes two large chunks back-to-back.

Will I have time for any other books while I’m reading these two? Stay tuned for when I eventually get to them.

444444EVELYN

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

I’ve been putting off this one since early 2019, but it’s not because I’m worried it won’t live up to the hype. It’s actually because I want to really feel the time has come when I open that first page. And for some reason I just haven’t felt like that yet. But the time may be coming.

V

Viper

Why am I procrastinating on this one? I don’t even know.

*whispers* Aside from the pile of ARCs I’m trying to get through before their release day, haha yeah, there’s that…

454678675

Sorcerer to the Crown

Again, I’m putting off this one because of my mountain of other books to read, but mainly because I can’t decide whether to read it on audio or in physical format. (Suggestions welcome!)

32469736

The Disasters

I’m procrastinating on this one because the hype has cooled a little bit on it for me. I was desperate to read it when it released in February, but I didn’t get a copy for a little while and then I didn’t pick it up straight away. I’m still keen to read it, but it’s just slipped down my TBR and the need to read feeling isn’t present as much as it was earlier in the year.

Girls of

Girls of Paper and Fire

The hype is huge for this book and I want to love it, but I’ve seen mixed reviews, so I’m worried I’m not going to. Someone put my mind at ease please.

Are there any books you’re procrastinating on? Are there of these you think I should get to ASAP?

Until next time,KateNEW

  1. Great list! Sorcerer to the Crown made my list this week, too. I totally feel you on Evelyn Hugo – I’m pretty sure I’m going to love it, so I’m waiting for the right time to read it and the right time hasn’t come around just yet. Red, White & Royal Blue and Girls of Paper and Fire are both books I want to get to soon as well. I hope you enjoy all of these when you read them!

  2. I also keep procrastinating with Circe, Girls of Paper and Fire, and City of Brass. I have all of them in one format or another but the indimidating hype as well as my own slowness means they’re gathering dust. I don’t want that for them but I don’t know when I’ll be in the mood to read them.

  3. Ah I love Evelyn Hugo so much, but I was terrified of the hype as well haha you’re not alone. I hope you will feel the urge to read it sometime soon and will fall in love with it 🙂

  4. Omg yes Circe, Girls of Paper and Fire as well as The Seven Husband’s of Evelyn Hugo are on my ‘I HAVE TO READ THEM’ list 🙈

    ALSO OMG YOU’RE GONNA LOVE RW&RB 😍😍😍
