April 16: Rainy Day Reads
If there’s one thing we bookworms love, it’s cosying up with a good book when it’s pouring with rain outside. Bonus points if it’s a weekend.
Sometimes it’s nice to have a book at the ready so you can dive right in when the weather gets bad. Here are just a few that are ideal to save and pick up on a rainy day.
This just in: soft contemporaries make for perfect rainy day reads.
If you want to feel better about the poor weather then reading a sweet story about friendship, romance, and adventure is guaranteed to do the trick.
Romantic graphic novels also make for excellent bad weather books. Maximum cosiness vibes guaranteed.
I love the colours and art style of both Heartstopper and Always Human and both are perfect to read when it’s raining. (Speaking from experience.)
Princess Princess is one that I’m hoping to read this year, and I’m definitely saving it for a rainy day.
Typically, we associate rain with sadness or despondency, so what better thing to read on a rainy day than funny books.
Carry On had me laughing out loud at some of the interactions between Baz and Simon, and Invictus and TGG are the ideal blend of witty and fun humour that suits me perfectly.

Great list! The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue and The Upside of Unrequited are so much fun, and Princess Princess looks adorable. Carry On and Pages & Co. are two I’d really like to check out!

Contemporaries are brilliant go-to’s for rainy days. There’s something so swoony about reading romantic contemporaries when it’s pouring outside.

These are some great picks for this weeks topic Kate. Heartstopper is a perfect read for a rainy date; something light with a cute romance and a great art style as well. Plus it’s a quick read as well. 🙂
Also I love both Carry On and A Gentleman’s Guide, both of those are books I could re-read over and over again.

Invictus has been sitting on my shelf for the LONGEST T_T But again…. *time*
Aww, I haven’t re-read it either, even though I loved it so much! I usually try to prioritise new reads over re-reads, so it’s rare for me to actually re-read a book. Would definitely recommend Invictus if you get the chance! It really surprised me in the best possible way!

The Upside of Unrequited is one of my favorite contemporaries ever. It’s my personal favorite of the Simon-verse. I haven’t read a contemporary in a while, so I should definitely pick one up soon!
I really enjoyed it too, it’s so sweet and uplifting. 🙂 I think Simon Vs. is probably my favourite, closely followed by Upside! 🙂
