Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This week’s theme is:
January 8: Most Anticipated Releases for the First Half of 2019
I have several other posts coming soon that are my most anticipated f/f, m/m, and books by Asian authors, so I thought for this post I’d focus anticipated releases by Muslim authors.
I can’t tell you how excited I am for these four. We Hunt the Flame and Tell Me How You Really Feel have been on my TBR almost since they were announced, and I’m really looking forward to them being released. The Candle and the Flame and The Weight of Our Sky are two that I’ve discovered more recently, but they both sound so good. (It’s not long now until TWOOS is released too!)
Even though I still haven’t read The City of Brass, I’m really excited for The Kingdom of Copper??? I think it’s because 1. It’s getting a lot of hype, and 2. I know I’m going to like The City of Brass. I’m also pretty hyped for Rukhsana Ali and Internment, as both deal with big issues of discrimination and are incredibly important books for those in the Muslim community (in terms of representation) as well as those outside of it. Ayesha at Last is a book I’ve only just found out about recently, but it’s a Pride and Prejudice-style retelling with a modern twist, which sounds like just my thing. (I know that Pride by Ibi Zobio, which came out last year, has similar themes, and I want to read that at some point too.)
The other two books I’m looking forward to haven’t had their covers released yet, but they are: The Light at the Bottom of the World by London Shah, and All-American Muslim Girl by Nadine Jolie Courtney.
Which releases are you looking forward to in 2019? Are any of these on your TBR?
Great list! Internment sounds like such a current read and I’m looking forward to We Hunt the Flame – I ended up preordering a copy after seeing it on so many lists this week! I haven’t read The City of Brass either but I’m hoping to read it soon. 🙂
Fantastic list! The first eight were all already on my radar and I’m VERY excited about them! I’ll have to look into those last two.
This is a great list! ❤ I'm eager to read We Hunt The Flame, it sounds like such a great book ahhh and all the snippets I've seen from the author on her twitter every now and then, even just one line, just… wow. I can't WAIT to read it 🙂
Ooooof the cover for Candle and the Flame is so wonderful and I’m excited for that one as well!
Cheers,

Awesome list! I have 4 of these on my TBR already and will be adding most of the rest of them now! Thanks for sharing! 😀
Great list! There are so many exciting book releases this year. 🙂
I’m excited for all of these as well. I’m particularly itching to get my hands on We Hunt the Flame. It sounds so fantastic. Hope you end up loving all these!
I wasn’t that thrilled about City of Brass but I’ll still check out The Kingdom of Copper! Sometimes next books in a series does it for me haha
Internment looks great, I’m adding that to my TBR. I’ve been looking forward to Kick the Moon by Muhammad Khan.
Okay, this is the first time I’ve seen Tell Me How You Really Feel but it’s going on my to-read list immediately. It sounds so good. Fantastic list!
Yes!! I’m anticipating most of these as well. I haven’t read The City of Brass as well but it sounds good so I’m keeping an eye out for The Kingdom of Copper as well. Great post!
I’m a sucker for beautiful covers. I’m always guilty for picking up books solely because of their beautiful covers. And this list is literally FULL of them! GOSH. I can’t choose which one to read!
Hahah sorry for including so many beautiful books 😂 I definitely get sucked in by covers too, if I’m unsure about a book but it has a beautiful cover, that might just swing it for me!
Oh Kate this is a great post, most i’ve heard of but some I haven’t! Got some more to add to my GR TBR
