It’s the last day of 2018, so this will be my final post for the year. I thought it would be fun to finish on a tag, and what better than a Christmas tag, based on a film I really love.

Jackson Overland aka Jack Frost: Name an icy character that is actually very lovable and sweet
Asha from The Last Namsara is cold, calculating, and cunning, but when it comes to Torwin and her family, she’s far more caring. Perhaps not exactly ‘sweet’ (she’s too raw and spirited for that), but she becomes much warmer and tender with those she loves.
Nicholas St. North aka Santa Claus: Name a fun and jolly character that could actually cut a b*tch
Almost the reverse of Asha, Nikolai from the Grisha trilogy is fun, cheerful, and sarcastic, but as soon as the people he cares for are in danger he becomes a badass. Nikolai won’t hesitate to take someone out if they pose a threat to his friends.
Toothiana aka The Tooth Fairy: Name a lovable book that is dear to your heart (and is so sweet it gives you a tooth ache!)
Lazlo from Strange the Dreamer has become one of my favourite sweet characters. I read both Strange and Muse this year and fell in love with his kind heart and loving nature. He always wants to help others and I just wanted him to be happy throughout the series.
Sanderson Mansnoozie aka The Sandman: Name a book that put you to sleep (figuratively or literally)
I found Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde pretty dull even though it was less than 200 pages. The writing style is long-winded and we barely get to see any of Hyde throughout the story, even though he’s the more interesting character. Having seen quite a few adaptations where both characters are complex and interesting, the book ended up being boring in comparison.
E. Aster Bunnymund aka The Easter Bunny: Name a book that fills you with hope
Moxie by Jennifer Matheiu really made me hopeful for the future of feminism and for women. It reminded me that teenage girls have incredible power and that they’re going to change the world for the better. It also bolstered my belief in women’s solidarity.
Mim aka The Man in the Moon: Name a wise character that acts as a mentor/parental figure
The character that immediately comes to mind as a mentor figure is Brimstone from Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Despite his tough, gruff outter nature, he cares for Karou and watches over her before she knows who she truly is.
Pitch Black aka The Nightmare King: Name a villain/antihero you can’t help but love
I could pick so many characters for this because I’m a bit of a sucker for anti-heroes and they often end up becoming my favourite characters, but I’m going to have to pick my mans Victor Vale. He’s the ultimate aloof anti-hero and yet I can’t help but love him anyway??? I think it’s because he tries his hardest not to care and yet ends up helping others anyway.

No problem, it was so much fun to do! Ah Victor, our stoic love 😂 He’s such an interesting character, and so likeable, even though by rights (because of the bad things he does) he shouldn’t be. But I can’t help but love him. Happy new year to you too, wishing you the best for 2019!

Thank you 😀 Yeah, Brimstone is such an interesting character; I didn’t warm to him at all in the beginning, but as the series progressed I found myself liking him more and more!
