Top Ten Tuesday: Characters I’d invite to my Halloween party

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This week’s theme is:

October 30: Halloween/Creepy Freebie

For this week’s theme, I decided to choose ten characters who I think would be great fun to invite to a Halloween party.

I’d definitely want to invite Arthur from What If It’s Us to my Halloween party because he’d likely come as one of his favourite musical characters, wearing a really elaborate costume and carrying eight pumpkins for carving. Similarly, Simon has a track record of hilarious Halloween costumes, so I know he’d be on board with getting dressed up as something inventive. I’d invite Molly Mavity from The Arsonist, as I know she’d research some kind of little-known, but significant, historical figure and roleplay as them until the end of the night. Monty seems to always get himself into trouble at parties, but also seems like a lot of fun, so if he could behave, I’d definitely want to invite him.

I’d invite Asha from The Last Namsara to my Halloween party in the hope that she’s bring Kozu for some potential fireworks and general scariness/fun. I’d also invite Luna because I know she’d turn up in the best costume, and I feel like we’d get on well and end up chatting all night. Baz is also a no-brainer because he’d stand in a corner, shunning everyone with a sneer for a while, but then would eventually join in after realising there’s the change to outdo people at games.

For my final three guests, I’d invite Jacob from City of Ghosts, so we could have a ghost representative present to give us his perspective on Halloween, Levi from Ace of Shades because I think his card tricks and games would go down very well, and Death from The Book Thief so I could be like ‘excuse me good friend, WHAT ARE YOU PLAYING AT? STOP WALKING OFF WITH PEOPLE INTO THE SUNSET. ESPECIALLY [REDACTED] IN THE BOOK THIEF.’ I think it’s a valid comment. And we’d probably end up having a nice chat afterwards.

Well, that took a turn. But those are the ten characters I’d invite to my Halloween party and have a ball with. What an unusual bunch.

Who would you invite to your Halloween party? Would you pick ten characters all from one book, or would you go for ten from different books like I have?

Until next time,KateNEW

  1. I LOVE your answers! 💗 I totally agree with your reasoning for inviting Luna and Simon, they would definitely be invited to my party as well and what you said about Arthur made me want to read What If It’s Us even more.

  2. Sounds like this party is in for a treat, Kate! I mean surely Monty will behave if Percy’s there (or perhaps not lol) and having Simon and Arthur in the mix will sure lead to one memorable night. I can already picture the two lads see singing till the sun is up. 😂 And with Death… oh gosh.
