Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I want to read during autumn

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This week’s theme is:

September 18: Books On My Fall 2018 TBR

I mean. There are so many books I want to get to during autumn. Probably at least 30. But here are just a few that I’m most keen to pick up.

These are all books/ARCs that I own, or in the case of Vengeful and Muse will own as soon as they’re released, and I’m eager to read them over the autumn period. I’m trying not to buy more books, aside from the two mentioned above, until I’ve read some of these. Wish me luck.

I’m not usually a seasonal reader, so I don’t tend to read summery books in summer and wintry books in winter, I just read them whenever I fancy. But a lot of these books feel quite autumnal to me for some reason and I’m really in the mood for some fall reads this year. Despite still wishing it was summer.

Which books are you hoping to read during autumn? Are you a seasonal reader?

Until next time

    1. Yesss, they both sound so good. I think I’ll read Girls of Paper and Fire first since it comes out soonest, but I’m equally excited for both. The Last Namsara is so good, I’d highly recommend it! I actually preferred it to The Caged Queen, which I’ve just finished. 😉 Thank you Kathy!

    1. It’s less than a week until Muse is released in the UK so I’m starting to get really excited for it! The Caged Queen is out today, so I hope you enjoy it when you get round to it! I didn’t quite like it as much as The Last Namsara, but it was still a really fun read!

  1. I was so caught up in the book I owned and needed to read that I forgot all about Vengeful. That book is without a doubt one of my most anticipated reads of the year!

    1. Thanks Victoria! Oooh A Darker Shade of Magic is one of my favourite books ever, so I really hope you enjoy it! Vicious is also amazing, and I’ve just started Vengeful so I have a feeling that’s going to be equally brilliant. V’s adult books are my favourites, they’re just so gripping and dynamic!

  2. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Girls of Paper and Fire, I’m so impatient to read that book, it sounds really good! 😀
    Happy reading! 😀

  3. These are all amazing picks for this weeks topic Kate. 🙂 Vengeful and Muse of Nightmares are at the top of my TBR list. Laini Taylor is an amazing author so you just know Muse is going to be amazing too, and I can’t believe Vengeful has nearly been released now. Given how long we’ve had to wait for it it seems a little unreal that it’s nearly here. I hope you love all these books, I’ve heard good things about Tempests and Slaughter and Mirage so I’m sure you’ll love them too. 🙂

    1. Thanks Beth! I’m reading Vengeful right now and it’s incredible. I just can’t wait to see what happens next and I have no idea where this is going to end. It’s a definite 5/5 stars for me so far. We’ve also now got less than a week to go until Muse is released, and I don’t know about you, but I’m so excited for my copy to arrive!

      1. That’s all right, and oh that’s great to hear. My copy of Vengeful has arrived but I still have a couple of books I need to get around to before I can start on that one. 🙂
And yeah, I’m definitely the same when it comes to Muse! 😀

  4. Amazing list, Kate 🙂
I can’t wait to know your thoughts on Mirage. I really enjoyed that book. Ahh, I can’t believe I forgot to mention The Girl in the Broken Mirror in my list. I too have to read that book.
I hope you enjoy all of these books 🙂

  5. Ah, yes, Vengeful! As soon as my pre-ordered copy comes in, I’ll probably drop everything else and get right on it. XD I’m also looking forward to Muse of Nightmares. And I hope you enjoy Tempests & Slaughter! That was a fun story, especially how it took fans to a part of the Tortall universe that we’ve never visited before.

    1. I’m actually reading Vengeful right now and WOW it’s good. So good. I can’t wait for it to be out in the world tomorrow! Yes, I’m really looking forward to Muse as well! I read Strange back in July and THAT ENDING left me desperate for the sequel. Have you read many of Tamora Pierce’s other books? I’ve not read any others and I’m wondering if I’ll still be OK to read Tempest without knowing much about the world?

      1. I got my copy of Vengeful today! So guess what I’m starting tonight? 😀

Re: Tamora Pierce’s books – The only other Tortall books of hers that I’ve read are her four Song of the Lioness novels. Most of her other books are set in the same “universe.” But based on what I’ve read, Tempests & Slaughter actually takes place before most of her other Tortall books do, so you’ll be fine if you make that one your first Pierce read. 😉
