The Friday 56 is a weekly blog meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. The idea is to share an excerpt from a book you’ve been reading every Friday, to promote the book or simply just to showcase your current read!
Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that’s OK.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it)
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url.
*It’s that simple
This week I’m reading an ARC of The Caged Queen that I was approved for on Netgalley, and the quote is from 56% of the way through on my e-reader app.
The case was small, maybe the size of two handbreadths on all sides and its glass unmarked by dust or fingerprints. On the wooden pedestal that held it up to chest height, a gold plate was fastened. Engraved into the plate wasn’t a description, though. It was a story. One about the Skyweaver.
Roa’s heart pounded in her chest. This was it. The place for the knife that could save her sister. There was just one problem. The case was empty.
After absolutely adoring The Last Namsara, I was really eager to read Kristen Ciccarelli’s second novel, a companion to the first book. Unfortunately, so far, it’s not lived up to my expectations. The story is much more fragmented that the first book, but I’m only half way through, and if I remember rightly, the second half of The Last Namsara was better than the first, so I’m curious to see whether this book can up the anti.
What are you reading this week? Have you read The Last Namsara or The Caged Queen?
