The Friday 56 is a weekly blog meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. The idea is to share an excerpt from a book you’ve been reading every Friday, to promote the book or simply just to showcase your current read!
Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that’s OK.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it)
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url.
*It’s that simple
As you’re reading this, I’m in London attending my first day of YALC 2018, but in between packing for the convention, I’ve been buddy reading reading State of Sorrow with Beth @OffTheShelf, so this week’s quote is from that.
She’d heard the legend of how she’d been named, what her mother had used her dying words to proclaim. It wasn’t a name at all, but a thread. Sorrow is all she brings us. Wasn’t that a sufficient warning in Charon? She was cursed.
This is a lot more intriguing so far than I expected it to be, and one of the protagonists is definitely not who they claim to be, so it’s going to be interesting to see where the plot goes next.
What are you reading this week? Have you read any UKYA books recently?
