The Friday 56: Autoboyography

The Friday 56 is a weekly blog meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. The idea is to share an excerpt from a book you’ve been reading every Friday, to promote the book or simply just to showcase your current read!

Friday56

Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that’s OK.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it)
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url.
*It’s that simple

This week I’m reading Autoboyography, a coming-of-age story about navigating sexuality and high school.

Autoboyography

My Dad is sitting in his standard green scrubs at the breakfast bar when I get up on Saturday, curled around his bowl of oatmeal like it’s the keeper of life’s greatest secrets. It’s only when I move closer that I realise he’s asleep.
“Dad.”
He jumps, knocking the bowl across the counter before he scrabbles for it clumsily. He leans back, clutching his chest. “You scared me.”

I’m enjoying the developing relationship between Tanner and Sebastian, and can’t wait to see what happens between them. (I’m kind of rooting for them. A lot.)

What are you reading this week? Are you reading any LGBTQIA+ books for pride month?

Until next time

  1. Ohhh I’m so glad to hear you’re rooting for the characters here and enjoying the book so far! I have that one on my TBR, it sounds really great, I can’t wait to read it 😀

    1. Marie, I finished it and it was SO GOOD. The romance between the protagonists was so soft and their feelings for each other were really sweet. It also deals with some pretty serious issues, too, like homophobia within the church. Would definitely recommend! 🙂
