I love superhero films and graphic novels and have watched virtually all the Marvel films in existence. But despite being more of a Marvel girl, I loved Wonderwoman when it came out and Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu, so when Emma @Emma’sChapter tagged me to do this I just couldn’t say no.

BATMAN
Who is Your Favourite Anti-Hero?
I was torn between a few characters for this one, but I ended up going with Victor Vale, who is undoubtedly one of the most captivating anti-heroes I’ve ever come across in fiction. His moral compass is skewed, but also kind of logical. He wants to take down a villain, and is willing to use any means necessary to do it, even if it means becoming a villain himself in the process. Despite his flaws, there’s a magnetism to Victor that means you can’t help but root for him.
AQUAMAN
A Book or Character That Turned Out To Be Better Than You Expected
I went into To Kill A Kingdom, expecting it to be good, but not mind-blowing. Yet, I was pleasantly surprised once I started reading; it was brilliant. The plot was pacy, the characters were nuanced and full of depth, and there were definite feminist undertones. TKAK far exceeded my predictions for it and, although it’s a standalone, I’ll happily read more of Alexandra Christo’s books in the future.
WONDER WOMAN
Most Badass Female Character
Is this- is this even a question? Not for me anyway. Delila Bard is one of the most badass characters I’ve ever encountered (irrespective of gender). Closely followed by Inej and Kate Harker. Imagine if they formed a girl gang. I’d die. (And then ask to join.)
CYBORG
Favourite Science Fiction Novel
I had high hopes for this book and it exceeded pretty much all of them. The plot was dramatic, complex, and twisty (my favourite kind of plot), the characters had layers upon layers of personality, and the world-building was a multiplex of different historical eras. If you’re a fan of time travel, I’d definitely recommend it.
THE FLASH
A Book You Sped Through
I read I Was Born For This in two days, while working full-time, commuting, and going running. (I mean, I didn’t actually read it while running, that would be tough (unless listening to the audiobook), I just read it in between my runs.) The storytelling was addictive and the characters very likeable, so I ended up flying through it and not being able to put it down.
SUPERMAN
Saddest Character Death

There’s a certain character death at the end of Our Dark Duet that punched me right in the metaphorical heart. I had an inkling that was going to happen in the final chapters, but it still hurt. Having said that, their death gave a lot of closure an was somehow a fitting end for their storyline. Only V could write a death so well that it seemed ‘fitting’.

I loved this post so much! What a wonderful idea. Thanks for an amazing post filled with some really good books.
Thanks my lovely! Feel free to do the tag if you want to! Would love to read your answers 🙂
Thank you for the tag! I have to agree with all your VE Schwab answers because she just writes the most amazing characters that you can’t help but love, even villains!
No problem, hope you have fun with it if you decide to do it! Her characters are incredible, and no two are particularly alike. There’s definitely one of her villains that I really ended up liking by the end of the ADSOM series 😉
I did do it and it’s scheduled for next month!
And there was a ADSOM villain I really liked by the end of the series too!
Oh, awesome, I’ll look forward to reading it! (Also, that was very speedy work) Hahah I bet we’re thinking of the same villain 😉
Yeah, we probably are.
Great answers for this tag Kate, and can I just say I loved how much V.E. Schwab featured in this one as well. 🙂
When it comes to antiheroes Victor is very near the top of my list too (but I have more of a soft spot for Holland from ADSOM) and yes female characters don’t get more badass than Lila! 😀
I have to say I wasn’t a massive fan of TKAK, it was a good read but it didn’t end up blowing my away unfortunately, still I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Great post, and again great answers for this tag. 🙂 ❤️
Thanks Beth! I actually didn’t realise how many times I’d featured her characters until I looked back while proof reading haha! But I stick by every single one, Victor is such an interesting character and Lila is my queen. It’s a shame you didn’t like TKAK but we aren’t always going to like every book we read. I was honestly surprised by how much I ended up enjoying it because I didn’t expect it to be so dramatic. 🙂
That’s all right, and hey not need to complain. it just goes to show what an incredible author she is right?
No definitely not, and if anything I’m glad so many other people were able to love TKAK. 🙂
Wow, the first answer was Victoria Schwab. And the third one. I’m shocked 😆 ❤ totally fitting though so I see why! (Although ive not read Our Dark Duet yet WHOOPS
Thank you for tagging me!
I actually looked back at this post and realised I included her THREE TIMES. I didn’t even realise this WHEN I WAS WRITING IT (because I drafted each section at different points and didn’t read through the whole thing until it was done). I’m a subconscious Schwab stan. But yes, I couldn’t include anyone else for best anti-hero other than Victor, and Lila is my #1 knife wielding girl. Have you read This Savage Song? If so, would definitely recommend getting to Our Dark Duet soon, it’s such a good conclusion to the story. 🙂
I have! I need to get to Our Dark Duet soon before I forget what happened and have to reread
Thank you for the tag lovely! 😀 ❤
Invictus was a heap of fun, wasn't it?? I loved how it was reminiscent of Firefly, I loved that show. Whew!
You’re welcome, hope you enjoy it if you decide to give it a go! (Also if you do, please link me as I’d love to read it!) Invictus was brilliant! I keep seeing Ryan Graudin tweeting about her next book in the works and I’m so excited for it! I hope it’s as complex and twisty as Invictus 🙂 I loved Firefly too! Such a shame we only got one season but I thought the film did a really good job of giving closure.
I plan on it & I’ll do my best to remember to link you! ❤
Oooo I haven't seen! But I'm also excited & hope it's a sci-fi as well like Invictus! It was truly a shame, I loved that show and those characters. We were robbed.
Ah I really like this tag! I still want to read To Kill a Kingdom soon, it sounds really good. The girl gang you’ve mentioned sounds amazing!! I love those three characters ❤
