Top Ten Tuesday: Blue book covers that are too pretty for this world

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. This week’s theme is:

May 8: Books With My Favorite Color On the Cover (or In the Title)

I find it difficult to pick one favourite colour, because there are so many I like, but my favourite colours are usually yellow and green. Having said that, on book covers, I actually prefer shades of blue. They can be bold, intense, or calming, and can hint much about the book before you’ve even opened the first page. The covers below are some of my favourites.

What’s your favourite colour to have on a front cover? Are there colour combinations you really love or hate?

Until next time

  1. I swear we are the same person. My favourite colour tends to change on a monthly basis, but the colour I am always drawn to and is, therefore, my defacto favourite is Blue. I love the Star-Touched Queen cover. Midnight Blue always seems just so magical.

    1. Haha it’s the Lois/Kate hive mind! I think my favourite colours tend to remain yellow and green, but I do love Blue and it just looks SO GOOD on book covers. You’re right, I definitely think it has a magical quality, especially on fantasy books. 🙂

  2. I did books with blue cover. I love that version of Strange The Dreamer. I own the Us one but the UK kills it. Plus it has the stained pages which I am in love with.

    1. Yay for us and our love of blue covers! Yeah, this version of Strange is my favourite; I definitely like the UK hardback more than the UK paperback which has just been released, so I’m glad I asked for it for Christmas! Ooh yeah, my copy doesn’t have sprayed edges, but they do look gorgeous 🙂

      1. Yeah I was tempted to buy the UK version but then I ended up winning the US one in a giveaway so I decided not to. Maybe if I end up really liking it, I’ll get the UK and giveaway my US one.
