The Friday 56 is a weekly blog meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. The idea is to share an excerpt from a book you’ve been reading every Friday, to promote the book or simply just to showcase your current read!
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that’s OK.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it)
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url.
*It’s that simple
This week I’m still reading Children of Blood and Bone (it’s great, I’m HERE for it), but I also just finished Ace of Shades.
“No. It didn’t.” Enne’s voice rose, marking the dozenth time she’d broken the show no emotion rule. She didn’t appreciate what Levi was suggesting, that Lourdes would use her talents to purposefully keep Enne in the dark. If a Protector officially swore their powers to someone, they were forever bound to act in that person’s best interest, no matter the implications for themselves.
I finished this two days ago and gave it 4/5 stars. The narrative was pretty average and I think the building romantic tension was excessively drawn out, but the plot was dynamic and my goodness I love Levi. What a character.
Have you read Ace of Shades? What are you reading at the moment?
