A Little Fool Reads’s Questions

1. What are your top three favourite book covers?

These are three of the most gorgeous book covers I’ve ever seen. I’ve read A Darker Shade of Magic (although not the French edition, which is what this is) and Retribution Rails, but not A Million Worlds Without You, which I’m hoping to eventually read because it’s so beautiful (and the series sounds good).

2 . Which Harry Potter character do you relate to the most?

Probably Luna, I enjoy her whimsy and I also have long blonde hair and tend to wear clashing colours and patterns together. I like to hope I’m a little more pragmatic than Luna, but I always enjoyed her optimism and quiet ingenuity.

3. Favourite reading snack?

Usually a banana chopped and dipped in peanut butter (eaten alongside my a cup of tea).

4. What are your top five favourite authors?

In no particular order (but everyone knows my fave):

Victoria Schwab

Leigh Bardugo

Laini Taylor

Paolo Coelho

Kristin Cashore

5. Have you ever written any fanfiction?

Oh absolutely. I’ve written Avengers, Star Trek, and Voltron fanfic, but I’m not going to disclose my username unfortunately. *winks*

6. What book to you tend to recommend to people the most?

I’m not even going to try and pretend it’s not A Darker Shade of Magic. It is.
ADSOM is my favourite series of all-time and I recommend it to friends, family, and strangers at every chance I get. If you’ve not read it you definitely should.

7. If you could get any book made into a film/television show, which would it be?

I would love to see Carry On adapted into a TV show. If done well, with realistic SFX for the magic and good characterisation I think it would be brilliant. We need more LGBTQIA+ shows with bi and gay main characters, and this would be a great addition to the growing canon, as it explores sexuality, friendship, and labels. I know Harry Potter already exists, but I’m probably one of the few people who think that Carry On is actually quite different to HP in a lot of ways. (Not least the rep.)

8. Who’s your no.1 book boyfriend/girlfriend?

Kell, from ADSOM, my angsty son.

9. What’s your reading goal for 2018? Are you on target so far?

I want to read 80 books in 2018 and so far I’m already four books behind. Send. Help. I’m hope to read a fair bit of manga and poetry over the coming weeks, so hopefully I’ll be able to catch up. I also want to read more own voices and LGBTQIA+ books. You can find my other goals in my 2018 Reading Goals post.

10. What’s your favourite read of 2018 so far?

Vicious by Victoria Schwab. This book is unlike anything I’ve ever read before. It’s about two college students who set out to attain superpowers, but then slowly start to become the villains of their own story. Masterfully plotted and exquisitely written, this book is completely unique from start to finish.

11. What’s your favourite type of blog posts to make?

I love writing features and discussion posts, and I really enjoy reviewing books, but I’m way behind with the my reviews at the moment.

Nominations

I’m going to tag these wonderful bloggers, who definitely bring a little sunshine to my day:

My Questions

  1. If you could spend a day hanging out with one author who would it be?
  2. If you use libraries, what’s your favourite thing about them?
  3. You can bring any meal or item of food from a book to life. What do you choose?
  4. What was the last bookish event you went to?
  5. What’s one thing you’d like to change about the book community?
  6. If you could have one book adapted into a Netflix series and it was GUARANTEED to be great, which would it be?
  7. What’s the most misleading blurb you’ve ever read?
  8. Paperback or ebook?
  9. What’s your favourite series of book covers?
  10. Is there a genre you want to read more of this year?
  11. What’s one of the unexpected pleasures of being a blogger?

Until next time

    1. Isn’t she?! Luna is great, and I just see some of the unusual things she does and says and a bit of her dress sense in myself. I also have pretty long, blonde hair XD
Aww man, I wish I could eat my usual combo right now, but I gave up peanut butter for lent, so I’ve got to wait until Easter before I can eat it again!

  1. Ah, such a nice tag! I still want to read Vicious really soon, it sounds so cool! I also really love Victoria Schwab’s writing style. The cover of A Milion Worlds With You is amazing, I really enjoyed reading this trilogy and I would definitely recommend it! I still want to read Carry On, I am very curious about the Harry Potter references/elements!

    1. Thanks my lovely! I hope you get to Vicious soon, it’s honestly brilliant. (Let me know as soon as you decide to pick it up.) I’m glad to hear good things about the A Million Worlds series, as it’s still on my TBR, but it’s dropped further down the order of priority recently. Carry On it really funny and just am enjoyable, light-hearted romp, so I hope you love it 🙂

  2. Thanks for the tag! Actually, you beat me to it because I was tagged do it a few months ago and when I was writing it up I was planning on tagging you!

      1. I’ll add your questions to the post I already wrote so it is a bumper tag! I think I also have another tag scheduled so I’ll tag you in that one instead!

          1. I have all my March posts pre-written and scheduled so it will be early April.

          2. Haha! I tend to write my posts in bulk. I also have no life so whenever I don’t have anything important to do, I’m constantly planning and writing.

          3. I understand that because it happens to me too. I get more blog posts written when I’m in the house alone.

  3. Ah, thank you for taking part, your answers were so much fun to read! Carry On would make an incredible tv show, I didn’t know I needed it until now! 😂 And I’m guilty of writing Avengers fanfic too 😋👌

    1. Aww, thanks again for tagging me! I had so much fun doing it. 🙂 Hahaha, as soon as I read that question, Carry On just came to me as a TV show I’d love to see. Ooooh which characters do you tend to write about? Nice to find a fellow fic writer 😉

      1. Aw, no problem! Ooh, well, I have the tendency to write a lot of Tony centred things, he’s probably my favourite character, but I’ve been known to explore a lot of Bucky in the past too, haha. What about you? ^-^

        1. Haha me too actually! I think Thor is probably my favourite character, but Tony is definitely one of the most interesting. He has so many facets that can be explored through a story. I use to write mostly team fics, so everyone (from the original six) would be in it. For some reason I’ve never really written about Bucky even though I like him as a character!

  4. Oh congratulations on the award! I really loved reading your answers for this 🙂 I love the ADSOM series just as well, it’s just, brilliant and the world-building, I don’t think I’ll ever get over it hahaha. I’m kind of proud that the French edition (my country, yay!) is pretty, for once they did something right hahaha 🙂

    1. Aww thank you so much Marie, that means a lot. 🙂 I don’t think I’ll ever get over how phenomenal ADSOM is either – it’s my favourite fantasy series ever. Ah, I didn’t know you were from France, that’s awesome! The French edition is absolutely stunning and I’m so pleased to have a copy. The second book has just come out in French now too, so I’m hoping my sister (who’s currently living there on her year abroad) will pick me up a copy 😀

      1. Ohhhh it is amazing that she is studying there, I hope she’s enjoying her time 🙂 and YES, that she will pick up a copy for you, these covers are so pretty. Maybe you’ll even read them in French, this way? 🙂

        1. Yes, she’s been really enjoying it in the last few months. Hahah yeah, I hope she does! I’d like to read parts of them in French, but my grasp on the language isn’t good enough to read the full book, so I’d have to have the English version open beside me to compare. 😉

          1. I only had Spanish as an option, French was discontinued by time it was my turn in hs 😦 And Spanish 1 was taught by a new teacher from Spain who could barely speak English, so he told us to look busy and he would give us A’s. Lol.

          2. Possibly, but Spanish just never made sense to me with all the feminine and masculine verb forms and the different word forms depending on whether something was singular or plural.
