The Friday 56 is a weekly blog meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. The idea is to share an excerpt from a book you’ve been reading every Friday, to promote the book or simply just to showcase your current read!
Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that’s OK.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it)
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url.
*It’s that simple
I just finished Hero At The Fall today, and I need something warm and cute to put my feelings back together, so I decided to start Love, Hate & Other Filters.
I nod several times. “Does your mom know?”
“Of course. I had my first sip with my parents.”
My mouth drops open. The stars are misaligned. This is not normal, not for a desi Muslim kid. “But aren’t your parents…? I mean, I heard your mom talking to my mom about going to the mosque-”
His laugh stops me. “They’re not sitting around getting wasted, denying the existence of God or anything. My dad considers himself a believer. But he also enjoys a glass of wine now and again.”
What are you reading this weekend? Have you read any good own voices books recently that you’d recommend?
