February 6: Books That Have Been On My TBR the Longest and I Still Haven’t Read
This was an easy one for me, as I have way too many books that have been on my TBR (and physical bookshelves) for a long time and I still haven’t managed to pick up.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll buy several books at the same time, manage to read some of them, not get to some of them, buy more, and the cycle repeats until the amount of unread books builds up. That’s how these 10 have ended up being on my TBR for well over a year. Hopefully I’ll get to them soon!
Which books have you had on your TBR for a long time? Are there an books that you’ve owned for ages and are just finally getting round to reading?

I highly recommend ‘We all should be feminists’, it’s amazing! I think I might actually reread it soon.
It sounds brilliant, I just need to buy it whenever I get the chance! I haven’t been putting it off, per se, I just keep getting other books instead 😛
The Bone Season and its sequels are fabulous! The only downside is the long wait for the fourth book because Samantha Shannon has been working on another book, which does sound incredible, but I’m impatient for more of the Bone Season and its world.
I also have quite a few books that have been sat on my shelf for eons. Some of mine are Passenger by Alexandra Bracken, Heartless by Marissa Meyer, and the Magician’s Apprentice by Trudi Canavan.
Yeah, I’ve heard that she’s working on Priory at the moment and I follow her on twitter so I’ve seen all the updates. At least, whenever I eventually get round to The Bone Season, the second and third books in the series are already out so I don’t have to wait for them. 🙂
I enjoyed Passenger, but I’m actually not that fussed about reading Wayfarer? I’m not sure why, I think I just wasn’t invested enough in the story and had too many other books to read when it came out. The Magician’s Apprentice is WONDERFUL, please read it ASAP! 😀
I do want to get to Passenger at some point but it isn’t that high up on my list.
I’m in a bit of a witch and magic kick at the moment so I reckon that will lead me to The Magician’s Apprentice soon. I hope so because a lot of people sing its praises and I’ve wanted to read it for years.

I think I meant to say The Magician’t Guild not Apprentice but the same sentiment applies so it’s not an issue. I anticipate liking them a lot so I’m looking forward to finally picking them up.
Ahaha I see! Well The Magician’s Guild is even better, so I hope you love that too. As far as prequels go though, I really enjoyed the Magician’s Apprentice. Do you think you’ll read them in order? (As in Magician’s Apprentice, then Guild.) I read the prequel after I read the trilogy, but it was still really great.
I think I’ll read the trilogy first and then the prequel. My best friend told me that’s how she read it and she preferred it that way.

I loved Radio Silence SO much, but Solitaire’s been on my TBR for ages and I haven’t read it yet 🙈 x
Aww man, I really need to get to it. I’ve seen almost 100% praise for it and I’ve had it for ages! Is Solitaire one of her newer releases? 🙂

Ah you should really read Radio Silence soon, I’ve read it in January and I loved it so much ❤ I did read How To Build a Girl a couple of years ago, but I didn't really like it to be honest 😦 I still need to read 1984, it has been on my TBR for ages, the same goes for Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.
Oooh you’re the second person to say that to me about Radio Silence! I’ll have to get to it asap! That’s a shame about How To Build A Girl, but I think Caitlin Moran’s books can be very hit or miss for some people. I’m exactly the same – I’ve been meaning to read 1984 for about 5 years whoops!
I loved the Queen of the Tearling and 1984! I’d definitely recommend them. Though I DNF’d How to Build a Girl, it just really wasn’t for me (I rarely DNF books), I hope you have better luck with it!☺️
I also really want to get to In Order to Live, We Should All Be Feminists and The Bone Season, they look so good and I’ve heard so many good things about them all. x
Oooh that’s great to hear, I’ll have to try and bump those two up my TBR! Yeah, I’ve heard other people say that about How To Build A Girl, but since I own the paperback I’m still going to give it a go I think 🙂 Sounds like we have pretty similar tastes in books!

Hehe we have such similar tastes in books! Apparently We Should All Be Feminists is really short so whenever we both get to it, it shouldn’t take too long. Oh I didn’t realise you’d already read the first Queen of the Tearling, how is it? 😀
Yeah it is really short, that’s partly why I’m so ashamed I have to read it yet ahaha! I remember really liking Queen of the Tearling, I’ve no idea why I never continued the series (I do, it’s because I’m awful with series :lol:)
Haha maybe we should set ourselves a deadline for when to read it by? 😉 Aww pal, you’re not awful, you’re just human! I’ve done exactly the same thing with the Snow Like Ashes trilogy – read the first book and really enjoyed it but then haven’t picked up the second and third (and I even own the second book)!
I’ve added it to my Amazon basket so I’m one step closer at least ahaha 😆 And it’s just so hard to continue one story when there’s so many other out there!

First, I would highly recommend 1984 because it has been one of those books that has changed my life on a personal level. I’m not exaggerating. This is not a hyperbole.
As for which book I’ve had for the longest time? One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez has been on my TBR list for so long.
Oh thanks for the recommendation! It’s exciting to hear that it was such a life-changing book for you, in what way did it have an impact (if you don’t mind me asking)? Oh I also need to read 100 Years of Solitude! And Love In the Time of Cholera – that one’s been sitting on my shelf for about 3 years, whoops.
In an odd way it made me understand what my parents went through living in Cuba. We left when I was four so I only know how it was for them through stories. When I told my dad about 1984 and the things that happened in the book we both realized how eerily similar it was to some of the things he experienced. And so I think it helped me understand where my parents are coming from and why communism is evil. And my dad tends to lecture me a lot about why it’s not good and I can’t help but to bring it up everytime. Animal Farm had a similar effect too. I guess it helped me realize things I didn’t before.
That’s so interesting, it’s amazing when a book can make you look at history in a different light, especially a book you weren’t expecting to do that. It sounds like they really had an impact on you. 🙂
