TBRs and Wrap ups

August TBR (Aka attempting to read the unwieldy pile of books I brought back from YALC)

August TBR final

My feelings about August are usually something like ‘Yay it’s the height of summer, but wait no why is it raining all the time please stop?!’. Basically.

But this year, my feelings are less weather related, and more YALC related. After having a wonderful weekend at the convention, I now have an almost unwieldy amount of ARCs and purchases to read, starting this month.

I’m currently (FINALLY) reading:

acol

I’m also hoping to read:

I’ve been eager to read all of these for a long time, so I’m excited to get stuck in. Have you got many new releases lined up for August? Or are you picking up some old favourites this month? Either way, I’d love to hear what you’re reading!

Until next time, Kate

  1. Are you loving A Conjuring of Light?! OMG I thought it was so incredible!! I’m super excited to read The Arsonist and can’t believe how lucky we were to get ARCs – I didn’t expect to see it at YALC! Have you read The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly? I loved it so much.

    1. Kelly, I am ADORING IT. I don’t know if I’ve ever been so enamoured with a book – V has me hanging on EVERY WORD. Yeah I feel really lucky to have got the Arsonist because I didn’t know they had any copies until I approached the stall! It’s been on my radar for a few months too, so I’m excited to get started. I haven’t read that one, was it an ARC you picked up at YALC? 🙂

      1. Isn’t ACOL just wonderful?! After seeing V on Friday I really want to reread the series already! I’ve had The Arsonist on my tbr for nearly a year 🙈 I wanted it as soon as I realised Stephanie Oakes was writing it! The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly was out a while ago, by the same author though and VERY good!

  2. I really want to read both A Gentleman’s Guide and Monstress as well! I have heard many amazing things about both and they do seem like stories that I would enjoy. (Though I don’t yet own either of them, so we shall see when I will get to them.) Good luck with you TBR! 🙂

  3. Ohh I have The Loneliest Girl in the Universe on my to-read list for this month as well. I really hope you enjoy it Kate. Also I really really hope you enjoy A Conjuring of Light, Daughter of the Burning City and The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue.
I don’t think it’s any secret that the Shades of Magic books are all-time favourites of mine. Also I read both Daughter of the Burning City and The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue myself last month and really enjoyed them so I’ll be interested in seeing what you think! 😀
    Happy reading! 🙂 ❤

    1. Ooh I hope we both have fun reading it then! A Conjuring of Light is just my EVERYTHING at the moment, I don’t want this story to ever finish! I have no idea what I’ll do once I finally close the book. Probably lie on the floor weeping for a few hours, then begin the trilogy again. Are your reviews up for DOTBS and GGTVV? I’ll have to check them out! Thanks Beth, hope you have a super month too!

      1. God you’re making me wanna re-read the series now! I am going to have to go back to it one day soon and binge read all three books from start to end. When I finished ACOL I wanted to weep because it was over, but it was a great ending in my opinion.
Yep, I posted them last month so they’re somewhere on my blog.
That’s all right 🙂 and thanks Kate! 😀
