Hey guys, happy Friday once again!
The Friday 56 is a weekly blog meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. The idea is to share an excerpt from a book you’ve been reading every Friday, to promote the book or simply just to showcase your current read!
Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that’s OK.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it)
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url.
*It’s that simple
This week I’m reading Days of Blood and Starlight finally!
Akiva raised his arms, summoning magic. What he intended to do, Madrigal never knew, because Thiago was ready for him, and four revenant soldiers had already thrown up their palms, hamsas outfaced to the angel. A fury of sickness hit him. He staggered, dropped to his knees, and then they were on him with the butts of their swords, their heavy gloved fists and booted feet, and one reptilian tail wrapped in chains.
I’m finally reading it guys, and I’m absolutely adoring it. Laini Taylor’s writing is just sublime, there are few who write as well as her and it makes her books a joy to read.
What are you reading this week? Have you read the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy or is it on your TBR? Let me know!
I read DoSaB and DoBaS a few years ago. And never got round to the final book in the trilogy. I need to get round to rereading them before continuing.
Oh gosh that quote is bringing back all the feels. Akiva ❤ That scene was so brutal to read.
Lois, I just finished it today and I’M NOT OK. So many things happened and my emotions are just all over the place. Poor Akiva, poor Karou. Everything was so intense, but incredible and there’s still hope at the end?? I think I need to calm myself before I write my review!
There is always hope with those two. Days of Blood and Starlight was my favourite in the series. I love how Karou’s journey mimics the one Akiva followed after Madrigal’s death. All that anger and resentment fueling her. I can’t wait to read your review, definitely take a breather before writing it, and then plunge into the final book haha.
