Hey guys, happy Friday!
The Friday 56 is a weekly blog meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. The idea is to share an excerpt from a book you’ve been reading every Friday, to promote the book or simply just to showcase your current read!
Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that’s OK.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it)
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url.
*It’s that simple
This week I’ve chosen a quote from Broken Branches, a book I’ve been sent for review.
The rest of the evening was quiet – aside from the echo of the gunshot, which seemed to permanently ring in Ian’s ears. He and Stuart shared a quiet meal with Mum. Their father’s absence at the dining room table went unmentioned. After they had finished dinner, they were sent up to bed early, their knees decorated with coral-coloured fabric plasters.
I finished this book yesterday and while I enjoyed the eerie nature of the setting, I found the mystery lacking in depth and the characters bland. It gets a generous 3/5 from me.
What are you reading this weekend? Do you often read mystery or suspense novels? Let me know!
