Hey guys, happy Friday once again, I hope you’ve had a fun week!
The Friday 56 is a weekly blog meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. The idea is to share an excerpt from a book you’ve been reading every Friday, to promote the book or simply just to showcase your current read!
Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that’s OK.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it)
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url.
*It’s that simple
This week I’m still reading ACOWAR and Eating Animals (it’s been a busy week so I haven’t had much reading time), but I’ve also started my ARC of Hollie McNish’s poetry anthology, Plum, so I thought I’d choose a quote from that.
And I wonder if they’ve ever kissed anyone
If they’ve ever looked directly at the sunset and sat till sunrise
Run wet through raindrops dripping seas from cloudy skies
If they’ve ever cried with pleasure or dried tears with their own fingertips
From someone else’s eyes
This is a stanza from the poem Beautiful, about our surface-level interpretation of beauty and how society has warped what we see in others. The anthology is good so far and I’m curious to see how it progresses.
What are you reading currently? Do you read much poetry, and if so which poets are your favourites? Let me know in the comments!
