Most Anticipated Spring Reads

Most Anticipated Spring Reads

Hey guys!

It’s April and spring is in the air! To celebrate the sudden warm weather and sunshine we’ve been having, I wanted to discuss some of my most anticipated reads for this season, and why I’m excited for their release.

1. The Hate U Give

THUG

Release date: April 6th 2017

Reason I’m excited: The Hate U Give and ACOL are my two most anticipated reads for 2017, so I’m incredibly excited that THUG is finally out in the world (today!). This book is inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement and follows a young black girl who witnesses one of her best friends being shot by the police (that’s not a spoiler – it’s on the blurb). I’ve not picked up THUG yet, but from what I’ve read about it, this book is hugely important in educating people about issues with police brutality and racism towards black people, and everyone should read it.

2. Queens of Geek

queens of geek

Release date: March 14th 2017

Reason I’m excited: It’s about four friends who go to a convention. A CON. I’m so excited to read this because I’m a massive fan of conventions (and have been to several) but I’m so mad at myself because I had an ARC of this and it expired before I got a chance to read it!

3. You’re Welcome Universe

you're welcome universe

Release date: March 7th 2017

Reason I’m excited: This book features an MC who is deaf and a graffiti artist, which is potentially one of the most unique and interesting combination of character traits I’ve ever heard of, and I’m desperate to read about her.

4. A Crown of Wishes

Crown of Wishes

Release date: March 28th 2017

Reason I’m excited: I just read The Star-Touched Queen and although I enjoyed it I wasn’t blown away by it, but I’ve heard that ACOW is better than the first book. It also follows a character who I really liked from the first book and I’m eager to see what happens in her plot arc.

5. A Court of Wings and Ruin

ACOWAR

Release date: May 2nd 2017

Reason I’m excited: The cliffhanger at the end of ACOMAF punched me right in the heart and I am so ready for more adventures in the night court. ACOTAR had several significant problems, but ACOMAF went some way to resolving a few of these issues and I’m curious to see whether ACOWAR will go even further. Plus, I loved the main gang of characters and can’t wait for more of them. Mor and Amren are queens.

6. The Upside of Unrequited

Unrequited

Release date: April 11th 2017

Reason I’m excited: Excellent diverse rep, including (but not limited to) lesbian characters, a pansexual character, gay characters, black and Korean-American characters, and a Jewish MC. Also has positive mental health rep and is about navigating relationships as a teenager. Basically, this sounds amazing.

7. Strange the Dreamer

Release Date: March 28th 2017

Reason I’m excited: I’m currently reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone and I’ve fallen a little bit in love with Laini Taylor’s writing. So naturally I now want to read everything she’s ever written.

8. When Dimple Met Rishi

Dimple.jpg

Release Date: July 13th 2017

Reason I’m excited: Heart-warming YA about arranged marriage that doesn’t automatically condemn it as an inherently negative engagement? Sign me up.

9. Exit West

Exit west

Publication Date: March 7th 2017

Reason I’m excited: I tripped and tell on the hype train for this one. It’s about a young boy and girl who find love in the midst of civil war and it just sounds excellent.

10. Lambs Can Always Become Lions

Lambs.jpg

Publication Date: May 15th 2017

Reason I’m excited: It’s a female retelling of Robin Hood. Of course I’m excited. The author is also such a sweetheart on Twitter and I want to support her writing in every way possible!

So these are just ten of the books I’m looking forward to during spring! What are some of your most anticipated seasonal reads? Let me know in the comments!

Thank you, I hope you enjoy your current and future spring reads! 🙂

    1. Hi Yomna, thanks for stopping by! Wow, that’s great that you received ARCs of both! I was lucky enough to be offered a Netgalley ARC of When Dimple Met Rishi so I’m reading that at the moment. So far, I love it! It’s such a funny and gentle read. 🙂
