Hey guys, happy Tuesday from London! (I still haven’t posted about why I’m here, but I’m basically doing work experience with a small publishing company!)
As always, Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted over at The Broke and The Bookish, and this week’s theme is:
March 28: Top Ten Authors I’m Dying To Meet / Ten Authors I Can’t Believe I’ve Met (some other “meeting authors” type spin you want to do)
Since I haven’t met that many authors yet (they don’t always come that far north! *weeps*) I thought I’d go for the top ten women writers I’d love to meet.
From top to bottom:
V. E. Schwab – Author of the Shades of Magic Series, This Savage Song and Vicious. (OK, confession time – I have already met her. I met V for the first time at YALC last year and SHE IS WONDERFUL. She was everything I’d hoped for and so much more. I want to meet her again ASAP.)
Leigh Bardugo – Author of the Grisha trilogy and Six of Crows duology.
Banana Yoshimoto – Author of Kitchen, Goodbye Tsugumi, Daisy’s Life and The Lake.
Roshani Chokshi – Author of The Star Touched Queen and A Crown of Wishes.
N. K. Jemisin – Author of the Inheritance trilogy, the Broken Earth series, and the Dreamblood series.
Laini Taylor – Author of the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy and Strange the Dreamer.
Angie Thomas – Author of The Hate U Give.
Alwyn Hamilton – Author of Rebel of the Sands and Traitor to the Throne. (I might actually be meeting her today at the Islington Waterstones event!)
Alice Walker – Author of The Color Purple.
Han Kang – Author of The Vegetarian and Human Acts.
Which authors would you love to meet? Have you met any of these wonderful women already? Let me know!
Ahhh I would LOVE to meet V.E. Schwab!! Judging from her tweets, it seems like she would be a really funny and fun person to chat with 🙂
How could I have forgotten to add Laini to my list. I’d love to meet her. Victoria Schwab and Leigh Bardugo are two authors I’d absolutely love to meet mainly so I can pick their brains about my favoruite characters haha.
From your list, I’ve met V. E. Schwab, Roshani Chokshi, Leigh Bardugo, and (most recently) Angie Thomas! They were all incredibly kind and awesome people. I would absolutely love to meet Laini Taylor and Alice Walker!
These are some amazing authors Kate, and so many of them are on my hopefully-to-meet list as well. I’m a little gutted because Laini Taylor is coming to London one day but I already have plans so I can’t go and see her there! But oh I think it would be amazing to meet Leigh Bardugo and Roshani Chokshi, and I saw V.E. Schwab and Alwyn Hamilton at YALC but I’d love to meet them again.
Here’s hoping we get some of these authors actually at YALC this year, that would be so amazing! 😀
Great picks for this week as well. 🙂
I just got Roshani Chokshi’s A Crown of Wishes in the mail today and cannot wait to start it! I’d love to hear her talk about her writing. The Star-Touched Queen had such beautiful descriptions. I’m dying to try N.K. Jemisin this year. I hear nothing but amazing things about her books. Great list!
