The Friday 56

The Friday 56: Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Hey guys! I’ve decided to start doing a new meme (as well as Top Ten Tuesday) because I felt like one per week wasn’t quite enough, but two would be ideal.

The Friday 56 is a weekly blog meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. The idea is to share an excerpt from a book you’ve been reading every Friday, to promote the book or simply just to showcase your current read!

And a big thanks to Alicia over @A Kernel of Nonsense for recommending I start doing this meme!

Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that’s OK.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it)
*Post it.
*Add your (url) post below in Linky. Add the post url, not your blog url.
*It’s that simple.

My pick for this week is the book I’ve just finished, Daughter of Smoke and Bone.

Issa squeezed her arm and said, ‘Sweet dreams, sweet girl,’ and Karou hunched her shoulders and stepped back out into the cold. As she walked, clock towers across Prague started arguing midnight, and the long, fraught Monday came at last to a close.

I’m about to plan my review of this, and I honestly might have to give it five stars. The interweaving of different plots, timelines and worlds was utterly brilliant and I fell a little bit in love with Laini Taylor’s writing.

  1. Oh yeah, Laini Taylor’s writing is just as beautiful as I remember it. I’ve heard such good things about her newest book Strange the Dreamer. I think I’m going to end up hunting it down at the library once it’s released. Happy Friday!
