The Harry Potter Book Tag was originally created by Lashaan and Trang at Bookidode, who are also to credit for the amazing title images for each of the questions. There is only one rule; you cannot use any of the Harry Potter books to answer the questions.
A book in which you found the theme interesting, but you’d like to rewrite it.
Artistotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz
For this one I’m going to have to go with my most recent read. I loved the philosophy and existential themes embedded into the novel, but found the narrative very slow-paced at times. This was less of an issue in the second half of the novel where the culminating character development aided both pace and plot, but I’d definitely want to change the first half of the book. It had a lot of potential that was left unfulfilled.
The first book in a series that got you hooked.
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
I read this last May after hearing so much hype about it and I ended up finishing the quartet by September. The world the author creates is highly addictive and I found myself counting down the days until I could go to the library and pick up the next book. The Gangsey also stole my heart a little bit and I cried reading the final chapters of The Raven King because 1. the ending got me right in the feelings and 2. I didn’t want it to be over.
A book you wish you could have right now.
A Conjuring of Light with V. E. Schwab
This book comes out in just under a month but I wish I could hold it in my hands right now. The Shades of Magic series is one of my absolute favourites so I’m incredibly excited to read the final installment. But I’ll also be really sad to see it end (there may be some crying involved)!
A killer book. Both senses. Take it as you like.
This Savage Song by V. E. Schwab
When someone says the word ‘killer’ this is the book that immediately springs to mind. Those of you who’ve read it will understand why, but for those of you who haven’t, it’s a book about monsters and chaos, with one of the main characters trying to avoid being a killer, and one trying to step into the role of one.
A book that you found really confusing.
The Wicked and The Divine: Volume 1 by Gillen McKelvie and Wilson Cowles
This graphic novel wasn’t too confusing, but it did jerk from scene to scene a lot in a way that made me question whether its lack of fluidity was a plot device or just a lack of narrative skill. There were also lots of new characters introduced in each scene and it’s not ultimately clear who is a reincarnated God and who isn’t until the final pages.
Your spirit animal soul mate book.
(I don’t like using the word spirit animal because it appropriates indigenous cultures so I’ve changed it to soul mate, hope that’s OK!)

OK, I know I was probably meant to choose one book, but I just couldn’t! These three books just spoke to me when I read them and wrapped me up in their spell. When I read these books, I didn’t exist in this world, I was in their world because they transported me away so thoroughly. And they had everything great books should have – every one is a 5 star read for me.
A dark, twisted book.
The Vegetarian by Han Kang
This was the second book I read this year and it was much more dark than I was expecting, but also incredibly powerful. I’m not particularly squeamish but there were moments that made me flinch because they were so disconcerting.
A book that surprised you in a great way.
Fire by Kristin Cashore
After the brilliance that was Graceling, I was expecting this book to be good, but not to live up to the first novel. After the first few chapters, however, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself hooked and intrigued. Although I’d still say it wasn’t as good as the first novel (it’s a companion series so the characters were different), I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and would happily read it again (if my TBR wasn’t so huge).

Great answers for this tag Kate, I definitely agreed with some of them as well. The Raven Boys is the start of a series that got me hooked as well. I pretty much binge read all the books that were released and was so excited to get my hands on The Raven King a few months later. Also I would kill for a copy of A Conjuring of Light in my hands right this second. I know it’s not too much longer to wait now but it still feels like too long a wait.

I’m loving it! I just read the part when Holland attacked Lila so that she would summon Kell, but then I got too tired to continue. I love Kell’s coat so much 😀
