TBRs and Wrap ups

September Wrap Up

Hey guys, how is it the 1st October already?! Someone please explain. I feel like September only lasted about four days, whereas August seemed to last 44.

I had a pretty abysmal reading month in September due to the fact that I was working so much and getting ready to move out. As a result, I barely had any spare time to read and couldn’t get to all the books I wanted.

Because my time was taken up with work and packing up our house, I only read three books last month (one of which I began at the very end of August) and these were:

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken. 4/5 stars. Full review here.                                                             I liked the character development in this novel and the way Bracken used time travel was enjoyably intricate.

With Malice by Eileen Cook. Full review here.                                                                                            I was disappointed by this book to be honest, as the plot didn’t live up to my expectation and the characters were pretty dislikeable.

The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater.                                                                                                         This is the final book in the Raven Cycle, and I was really pleased that I managed to get to it before I go to Japan, as I got to finish the series. It felt quite bittersweet when I closed the book for the last time, because I’ve grown attached to Blue and the Gangsey, and while the ending was very satisfying, knowing that there are no more books where I can read about their adventures made me sad.

Features and tags

Top Ten Tuesdays: Top Ten Anime Shows. My top ten anime that newbies and die-hard fans of the genre all need to watch.

Top Ten Tuesdays: Top Ten All Time Favourite Fantasy Novels. This was tought to narrow it down to ten, but somehow I managed it. My all time favourites from the fantasy genre.

Travelling to Japan. I’m going to Japan in just under a week and I wrote my first blog post about it!

Autumn/Winter TBR. There are SO many books I want to read over the next few months and they’d all been swirling round in my head, so I compiled a general list (which I already want to add to).

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books on my Fall TBR. Ironically, right after I posted my Autumn/Winter TBR, I realised that the next theme for TTT was ten book on your fall TBR. Whoops!

The GBBO Book Tag. In honour of Bake Off being on TV, I did the baking-themed GBBO book tag. And boy was it fun.

So that was my September. Let me know what you guys read last month and link me to any of your tags, TTTs or features!

  1. I feel like a lot of people have had crazy Septembers. I know I have! Passenger is on my TBR. I’ve sadly had it since its release but haven’t picked it up yet. Here’s to a better October! 🙂

    1. Aha that makes me feel slightly better! I guess it’s the month everyone goes back to university and school, so free time is suddenly in short supply for a lot of people. For me it was just working a couple of 55 hour weeks that meant I had virtually no free time! I’ve seen a few mixed reviews of Passenger, but I really enjoyed it. My one criticism would be it’s perhaps slightly too long, but that didn’t bother me too much. If you can abide by a few slower-paced chapters and enjoy a good bit of time travel then you’ll probably really enjoy it. 🙂 Yes, here’s to reading more books! *clinks imaginary glass*

  2. Passenger has been on my TBR for some time now. And I’ve been meaning to read The Raven Cycle series, it’s great that you already finish that series.👍💜
